Highlight

The highlight of our week was Wednesday, the only dry day this week, because, with some help from our friend Sean, we lifted our four huge 24V 285AH LiFePO4 batteries (each over 60kg) from Fogstar onto the boat.

In the end, it all went smoothly (thanks to our friend Sean for some extra muscle) and we got all the batteries into the cockpit. ...

The batteries are Fogstar Drift PRO 24V 280Ah LiFePO4 Leisure Battery (Gen2) NB we are Fogstar Ambassadors, so we do get referral commission, watch out for bias ;-)

Lowlight

Unfortunately, this was followed by some bad news about the electric motor installation. Some key parts are delayed (three Contactors, essentially electric powered switches for the motor battery banks). This means we are looking at the installation being delayed until early in 2026.

This means we are definitely stuck in this boatyard in North Wales for the winter, probably until the end of February. So we have been focusing on comfort a bit more.

More comfort changes

We have continued to improve life on the boat with lots of upgrades, see the full newsletter.

Wheelhouse extension and enclosure

Jane now has the two roof sections ready for test fitting. We are just waiting for a dry day when it isn't too windy to get that done.

The Airing cupboard

While Jane did manage to get the washing done it was a bigger problem getting it dry, we need to hang quite a lot of it in our saloon (living room) for a few days. So we have been working towards the getting the airing cupboard done. Details in the Full Newsletter.

We have been using the stove a lot for heating (much cheaper than electricity here), and also cooked a full meal on it (vegetable and chickpea curry).

Tidy up

After this short video on Saturday, we did have to spend most of the day sorting out the boat and doing a full tidy-up. It is nice to have all our space back!

Boatyard drama

It's been a bit too exciting around the boatyard. Another car flooded, a sunk fishing boat rescued and more, in the full newletter ;-)

Blog

Only one blog post this week, partly because Dave was answering so many comments on the Methodist A Word in Time Bible Studies (including one person using multiple aliases to attack him - which eventually the admins banned them for). Anyway, it was Dave is geeking out: New toys to install.

Walks

The combination of weather and boat jobs mean that we haven't been out for any walks this week. We have visitors coming this week, so will get at least one walk in.

Videos

We haven't had time to edit a full video, but we are putting up a short video most days. Subscribe to the channel on YouTube to see them (and click the notification bell to be reminded of new videos).

The shorts are bringing in new viewers and this evening we reached a new milestone of 800 subscribers (up by 43 so far in October).

What's next

As we have a bit less pressure to be ready for the electric motor installation we can progress some of the other jobs, weather permitting we will prioritise the wheelhouse and insulation.

Love

Dave and Jane
