On and off progress with the weather

Summary Weekly Newsletter 10th November

It has been another mixed week. We have some good bits of progress, but it always depends on how we can work around the weather.

SPONSORED

A bumper full newsletter this week that is available to our Early Bird Members (£2 per month or £20 per year). Well worth about 50p per newsletter 😄

Electric Motor installation update

First some good news about the Electric Motor, the key components whose delivery dates have fluctuated so much, have actually arrived. ...

Boat Projects

I spent one day doing some wiring work, preparing to connect more solar. Apart from that, the key focus has been the starboard side of the main cabin.

... See At last some calm and Airing cupboard is finished ...

On Saturday, sandwiched between our sailing club AGM and bonfire party, we managed to fit the insulation to the starboard side of the saloon (by far the biggest area we have done so far). Although it took under Monday morning for the copious amounts of sealant to cure (meaning the boat was a complete mess for all Sunday), we are really pleased with the outcome.

Today we added a shelf (well, all the framing for it) above and behind the sofa back. ... .

Upgrades

As we have the Refleks stove on every morning and evening (most of the day as well today), we are using it to cook on, several nights a week, and we now have a very cute little kettle that fits on the stove. So we are using it to boil the water for tea, coffee and washing up. It is significantly reducing the amount of electricity that we are using.

Walks

We managed one (shortish), very wet, coastal path walk on Sunday.

...

We did a walk into Beaumaris on Wednesday as well.

Bonfire Night

For the first time in 6 years, we got to see the "world famous" Beaumaris Fireworks display with a great view from our sailing club patio. We had our own bonfire (Dave was able to burn all the scraps of wood that have been piling up under the boat and a huge amount of cardboard packaging).

While the fireworks were good, we are very glad that we didn't try to drive into Beaumaris and pay £7.50 per person to see them!

Techy bits

Dave has been making some (slow) progress on various bits of boat related tech. That includes a neat little display that will use a Raspberry Pi Zero2W to show all the data relating to our electric motor, so you can see it as a "dashboard" from the steering position (it won't need the keyboard and mouse).

He also improved our network security with a VPN and did some work on a couple of software projects.

Jane has a secret, December related, sewing project keeping her busy at the moment.

Coming

More wet days (Dave wiring, Jane sewing), more gadgets arriving and who knows what else 😄
Blog posts are all mentioned above. Loads more YouTube short videos, up to 817 subscribers and views are still growing.

Have a great week!

Love Dave and Jane
