Some progress on a wet day

It's been raining almost all day and for the first week of our "Summer" holiday it looks like it will rain every other day.

At the moment we are using dry days to work on the stanchions and guard lines which will lead to tackling the mizzen mast (hopefully before our friend Richard gets his catamaran lift out to along side us for easier crane access).

Meanwhile at the moment wet days are for progressing the galley.

Jane sanded and primed the rest of the galley extension, including the underside of the worktop and the drawer runners.

Meanwhile, in a gap in the rain I drilled the 12 holes for the pulpit. I didn't have enough bolts of the right length (and they were only A2 stainless) so I've ordered 12 x 65mm A4 bolts from Accu. Should be able to get that bolted down on Wednesday (rain permitting).

Then in the galley I finished the fiddle for the galley extension with the router and glued it into place.

After that I did a bit of finishing for the cooker box. I've put a stainless steel tube around the bolts for the gimbal in both sides of the cooker box and in both bulkheads. Now the bolts won't saw their way through the timber.

Finally I started working on the space behind the cooker box. So far I've fitted the frame pieces. I'm waiting for some dry weather to cut the plywood front and aft side with my Evolution track saw. The other step was towards a proper 240volt installation rather than the extension leads we are using at the moment. For this I drilled the holes for a conduit (we are using cheap 40mm plastic pipe) to fun from the cockpit locker behind the cupboard and oven box to under the galley extension. I've also put the backbox for the hob and oven in the cupboard I'm building behind the cookerbox.

That's all we managed for today. We did finish with a yummy meal. Big square crumpets toasted with melted cheddar cheese and cooked mushrooms and friend egg on top, with a side salad.
