Saturday: Calm before the storm

Strong winds, lots of rain and runners affect our plans

Saturday: Calm before the storm

Our weekly newsletter will be a bit later than normal on Sunday. That's because we have had a day off today (Saturday) to grab a coastal walk (and do our weekly shop) in what feels like a rare gap in the wind and rain. Also, there is the Beaumaris half-marathon on Sunday morning which will close the road out of the boatyard, so we won't be able to get to Church.

Our walk was from the North West corner of the RAF Base on Anglesey and connected up with a walk we had done through the dunes to the north of Rhosneigr. This was our first view of this entrance to the channel that separates Holy Island from Anglesey. Wow! It is very tight, and the breaking waves made it look impossible to navigate (we will not be taking Vida into there!).

It looks as if the weather coming through on Monday won't be quite windy enough to count as Storm Amy (although one weather model predicts gusts up to 58mph for us: I'm now using the Windy app which is likely to be essential when we start sailing, it means I can compare 9 different weather models from different organisations).

So, I'll be finishing the next video (all about creating our own Busbars) and then the weekly newsletter tomorrow.

We are now settled in for the night. Fortunately, we got the outside jobs done before it started to rain: bin bag out to the bins, toilet wee bottle emptied (about every 2 or 3 days), waste water bucket emptied, and checked on the progress Jane is making on the WheelHouse Cover. That is looking so professional and awesome, it is going to be a real game changer.
