Preparing for a Sustainable & Minimal Christmas

Preparing for a Sustainable & Minimal Christmas

So Christmas is going to be very different for us this year.

  • It's 25 years since I wasn't working every day, up to and including Christmas Day.
  • We are going to be on the boat for Christmas (visiting sons soon after) for the first time, that means in our own home for the first time in 21 years with just the two of us.
  • We are space challenged on the boat and trying to be as sustainable as possible.
  • We are not going to be able to be tempted by all the food "Christmas Treats" as they don't seem to have any in the small gluten-free section of Aldi (very good for our pockets and diet).

So we have just been to our storage container, while there we collected this shoe sized box (which was a gift wrapping for some nice cheese last year) which contains everything we need for Christmas. We are not yet sure what is in there as Jane can't remember what she packed after last Christmas (everything else went to Emmaus South Manchester).

It terms of what we can do this Christmas, it is looking really positive. We will be able to attend worship, we will be able to have more space to reflect, pray and rejoice in the wonder of God's gift to the world. We will have far more time for each other. We will be closer to modelling the sustainable elements of our faith.

May your seasons of Advent and Christmas allow space for Christ, while balancing that with seeing more of God's Kingdom for all.
