Been busy in the engine compartment. Have removed the old engine mounts and cut the coupling off the propeller shaft. Have managed to get the propeller off and the shaft out (was able to borrow a propeller pull tool). Still need to get the stuffing box off (makes a waterproof

Arrived just before midnight. With our 2 electric wall heaters set to 5°C it was actually 4°C in the cabin despite ice on the deck. Bone dry. Electric cost for 2 weeks £5 very happy. But sadly much of the insulation in the aft cabin has not stayed

A couple of very good moments today amidst clearing up, measuring and preparing to come home. First, despite strong winds and a fairly cold, very wet night we woke to find the temperature in the aft cabin at 12.7°C. The thermostat was set to 11°C so clearly

Not a lot happening apart from constant heavy rain. I've boxed up the diesel engine to keep it in beautiful condition until it can be lifted off the boat. Meanwhile Jane has been doing a dead beetle impression while fitting the insulation to the aft cabin.

Today we successfully removed our diesel engine. It is now in our cockpit, under the wheelhouse. All went pretty much as planned. Three of the 4 engine mounts had to be cut off. But the lift went smoothly. Always a bit tense when lifting nearly 200kg over 1.7m. We
