Environmental
This Christmas we have found extra joy from the ways we have been able celebrate in more sustainable ways. It is great to see more creativity in gifts and packaging. So we wish everyone sustained joy, new life, hope and peace for 2020.
Electric
So, if we do decide to fit an electric motor what are we looking at? We follow five sailing channels on Youtube who have fitted electric motors: * Spoondrifters: ELECTRIC SAILBOAT | Choosing an electric motor for your sailboat * Sailing Uma: Our Electric Motor (Electro-Beke, part 1) * Beau and Brandy: Cheap sailboat
Electric
In Zero Fossil fuel sailing and other posts we have written about a long term goal to replace the diesel inboard engine in Vida with an electric motor. That with a battery bank charged from renewable energy (regen from the propeller when sailing plus solar and wind electric generation). However,

Going to be slow today partly because I'm on my own (Jane is struggling with a bad cold) and the weather isn't going to be great. Quite a lot of rain forecast and I really wanted to use the table saw to build the battery box.
Sailing
We were just watching a YouTube video about a couple preparing for this year's ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). They will currently be on their way across the Atlantic. Several hundred boats sailing from The Canaries to St Lucia in an organised event. Happens every year starting on

There are now so many sailing YouTube channels producing really great content that I doubt we are going to even try to compete :-) We will continue to add a few YouTube videos to our channel but, especially at the moment, actually getting the jobs done takes a far higher
