Well the wind and rain happened last night (Thursday 26th September). Our nearby boat neighbour, Nick, popped his head out with a handheld wind speed gadget and it read 60mph in one gust with 47mph in the lull. It started to increase from about 5pm but didn't fully

Jobs are finished for the day as a storm has rolled in. According to the Met Office we currently have winds from the North around 25mph gusting 44mph (the gusts are always fairly continuous here as the wind funnels along the Menai Strait). The winds will get a bit stronger

This week we were hoping to make real progress on the mizzen. Yesterday Jane managed 2 coats of primer on the repaired mast top and the main mast spreaders. Ever since then it has been raining on and off all the time. So we have moved to inside jobs. First

Our next video is live! We have finished splicing all 6 mizzen shrouds (technically 4 plus 2 forestays) plus the 2 running backstays as well as all 8 chainplate loops. Now all the shrouds & stays need to be stretched to tighten the splices where the weave was opened when

So far today we have tensioned 6 of the 8 mizzen shrouds. All of them tensioned to at least 1,300kg and leaving them at over 1,000 for at least 15 minutes
