The mast rush

We have a fixed deadline of Wednesday

The mast rush

We have a crane coming on Wednesday 23rd to put our main mast up. So we are in a huge rush to get all the jobs on it done.

Jane is constantly splicing dyneema (mostly making strong, permanent eyes in the ends). She has made 2 chainplate loops for the inner forestays and 2 for the main forestay. Now she is making 2 inner forestays and then 2 check stays. After that it will be lots of soft shackles.

Dave has just finished making 18 deadeyes and 4 mounts out of Acetal. Lots of routing grooves and 90 holes + 180 countersinks to be drilled.

Before that we were fitting 3 winches to the mast (for the Halyards and Reefing lines).

The biggest job that remains is wiring (VHF Antenna, Masthead light, Steaming light, 2 Deck Lights, Camera), then we can refit the mast foot. It would be nice if we could fit the vang fitting and fabricate the attachment for the constrictors (essentially soft locks that hold the halyards tight) but these could be done after the mast is up.

We have put up quite a few videos about what we have been doing for example:
